iOS 26 brings big changes to Music, Maps, and Wallet

By Oliver Haslam

Apple has announced a raft of new services updates, including some for Lyrics Translation for Apple Music, Visited Places on Apple Maps, and more, all arriving with iOS 26 in the fall.

The iOS 26 update will update Music, Maps, Wallet, and more.

The new features were unveiled as part of the WWDC 2025 event that is taking place at Apple Park this week. The annual event sees Apple unveil its software plans for the coming year, and this year that includes upgrades to a number of its services. Those services are available on iPhone, iPad, and the rest of its platforms.

Apple's services are among the most-used on its platforms and come preinstalled on all of its products that ship around the world. For that reason, changes and new features are always going to grab the attention.

Apple Music

The Apple Music app is getting a new Lyrics Translation feature that will make it easier for people to follow along at home. Even if the song is in a different language, Apple Music will translate the lyrics on the fly.

Apple also announced Lyrics Pronunciation, a feature that means everyone can sing along. No more falling over yourself and ruining your rhythm when a hard-to-say word comes up.

Finally, Apple also announced a new AutoMix feature, which uses Apple Intelligence to blur the lines between songs. When enabled, AutoMix will use time stretching and beat matching to mix the end of one song and the beginning of the next.

Apple Maps

Apple Maps might not be the most exciting app on your iPhone, but it's an important one. Now, it's gaining a new Visited Places feature. The feature collates places you've been.

Apple is bringing new features to its services and more with iOS 26.

The updated Maps app in iOS 26 will also use on-device intelligence to get a better understanding of how people travel, offering preferred routes and alerting about delays.

Apple Wallet

The Apple Wallet is the home to Apple Pay and more, and it's getting some new updates in iOS 26. Apple announced that refreshed boarding passes are coming, with support for Live Activities for real-time flight information.

Finally, Apple also confirmed that the new passes will offer easier access to information such as maps data for airports. Find My support for tracking AirTags and other items will also be present.

All of these new features and more will ship with iOS 26 when the update is released to the public, likely this fall. The software will likely arrive around the same time as Apple announces the iPhone 17 lineup and new Apple Watches.
