tvOS 19

Apple never revealed tvOS 19. Instead, it announced tvOS 26 during WWDC 2025.

The Apple TV hardware exists as a vehicle to deliver entertainment, mostly in the form of movies and TV shows. Apple said the future of TV is apps, but that never solidified and tvOS 19 may be a step away from that old idea.

Apple could add more screensavers to tvOS 19

Apple's TV operating system is built around two distinct entry points — the Home Screen and Apple TV app. The Home Screen lets you navigate to various apps, including games, lifestyle, and social media.

The Apple TV app acts as a window to all the entertainment available on the platform through virtually every service besides Netflix. Users can go here to view a unified Up Next timeline that can launch into apps directly.

This divide in the interface is what enables companies like Netflix to exists in a silo. It is also an older approach that has existed since before Apple TV got an App Store.

While it is unlikely for Apple to abandon this paradigm, it is clear that something should change to help the Apple TV app become more centralized and useful. Beyond that, minor adjustments to make the OS more visionOS-like is expected as a part of the ecosystem-wide redesign.

Apple previously promised screen savers based on locations in Apple TV+ shows like "Foundation." That feature never arrived, but could be a part of tvOS 19.

InSight is limited to Apple TV+ content

InSight could also be updated with a wider database beyond Apple TV+ content. It is a feature that shares information about the actors on screen, media being played, or other behind-the-scenes content.

At the least, Apple could offer InSight content on purchases made in the Apple TV app.

Apple will reveal tvOS 19 during WWDC 2025 on June 9.
